Today at McKim’s IGA in Mt. Vernon, you can get Kretschmar Ribs for a cause. Fully cooked St. Louis style ribs are on sale for 18 dollars a slab, with 2 dollars going back to United Way of Posey County. Pickup is at McKim’s IGA today from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Pre-sale orders are being taken and the number to call for that is 812-838-3637.

 

Coming up tomorrow there is a Chops and Cheers event at St. Francis Church in Poseyville. Mass starts at 4:30 PM and then at 5:00 PM there will be a meal and music. The planned menu is pork chops, cheesy potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, role, homemade dessert, and drink. They say carry-out will also be available. Live music will be performed by the Schelhorn Band and there will be a Beer Garden as well. This is a 21 years and older only event.

 

Family Matters of Posey County has announced that there will be a free kids simmer wellness class. It is for kids entered 3rd through 5th grades. The classes will be on four consecutive Friday’s starting on July 12th. They will be an hour long from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM. During the four-week program students will explore what a balanced diet means for long-term health, discover how to make new healthy treats, enjoy thrilling games, and exciting exercises. The St. Louis Cardinals lost the opening game of their four-game set at home against the Cincinnati Reds last night, 11-4. The Cardinals fell to 41-39 on the season, while the Reds improved to 38-43. Game two of the series is tonight in St. Louis at 7:15 PM. You can hear the game on 106.7 FM WMVI with the pregame show starting at 6:20 PM.

The Chicago Cubs edged the San Francisco Giants on the road in 10 innings, 5-3. The Cubs run their record to 38-44 on the year. Chicago now heads to Milwaukee for a three-game set against the Brewers tonight at 7:10 PM.
