The Posey County Solid Waste District posted on Facebook that tomorrow morning is the Ohio River Sweep at the John T. Myer Lock and Damn. It will take place from 8:30-10:30 AM. There will be water, t-shirts, trash bags, and gloves provided. Waiver forms will need to be signed. For more information or to RSVP, contact the Solid Waste District at 812-838-1613.
Father’s Day is this Sunday and the Friends of Harmonie State Park is offering a great deal on Saturday to treat your Dad…as Breakfast is on them. Bring your family and join the Friends of Harmonie for Breakfast from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM tomorrow. Then you can enjoy the rest of the day hiking, fishing, or kicking back and relaxing in a beautiful setting.
New flights are scheduled to fly out of Evansville Regional Airport. This will be the new Allegiant flight to St. Pete Clearwater International Airport. Right now, that flight is scheduled to happen twice a week on Thursday’s and Sunday’s.
Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville is planning to celebrate Juneteenth this coming Tuesday with an indoor vendor fair. According to a press release, the vendor fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 18 in the Koch Student Center on the Main Campus. Officials say this event is free to the public. It will feature music, art and multiple other vendors with items for sale and information to share. Food trucks will be available in the courtyard on the south side of the main campus during the event. All Ivy Tech locations will be closed on Tuesday and no classes will be held.
An outdoor summertime event is coming to Evansville tonight. The Evansville Police Department and the Evansville Parks Department are partnering up to kick off the all-new summer "Movie Night in the Park" series. Members of the public can watch “Sing 2” this evening at 8:15 PM at Stockwell Park. The event is free, with attendees encouraged to bring their own chairs and refreshments. Food trucks will also be available on site for anyone who would like to purchase food. In addition to EPD, members of the Evansville Fire Department will also be present for the event. The public is encouraged to use the free event as an opportunity to meet with the city's first responders.
The St. Louis Cardinals earned a series win at home over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday, 4-3. The Redbirds took 2-of-3 from the Buccos to improve to 33-34 on the year. St. Louis heads to Chicago to begin a 3-game set with the Cubs today at 1:20 PM.
The Chicago Cubs fell in Tampa to the Rays yesterday, 3-2. The loss puts Chicago at 33-36 on the season.
The Cincinnati Reds, who have a record of 33-35 enjoyed Thursday off. They are in Milwaukee this evening to begin a 3-game set with the Brewers at 7:10 PM.
From the NBA…Game 4 of the Finals takes place in Dallas tonight between the Mavericks and the Boston Celtics at 7:30 PM. The Celtics lead the best-of-seven NBA Finals, 3-0 and look to close it out tonight.
