News:
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has extended its Air Quality alert through today for Posey County and the Tri-State, due to the latest smoke from Canadian wildfires. IDEM is forecasting air that’s unhealthy for sensitive groups, meaning people with lung or heart conditions should limit time and exertion outdoors. You are encouraged to drive less if possible and conserve energy at work and home. This helps improve the air quality. The air quality is on top of an Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service that continues through Friday. Forecasters are predicting highs near 100 degrees and a Heat Index value as high as 115. Be sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and check on relatives and neighbors.

Because of the extreme heat, Ellis Park officials are postponing today’s and Saturday’s races. According to a release, races set for this weekend are now scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. That’s due to forecasted temperatures in the high 90′s and a projected heat index value of 106 degrees. The cards will be the same for each day.
