The Posey County Fair in New Harmony is winding down. The final day is tomorrow. General admission is $8 per person and free admission for children 10 and under. Tonight’s events include an Indoor Cornhole Tournament at 6:00 PM, a Concert and Beer Garden from 6:00-10:00 PM, and the ITPA Pro-Series Tractor Pulls start at 7:00 PM. According to Posey County officials, a man is in jail facing multiple child pornography charges. Posey County officials say after a month’s long investigation that began with a Cyber Tip report, Brian Weightman has been arrested on charges of possession of child pornography and a charge of child exploitation. Officials say when they arrested Weightman in Evansville they also seized a phone, two laptops, and an external hard drive. Weightman is currently being held without bond.

 

Posey County Council on Aging is now hiring for an Executive Director position to lead and manage the non-profit organization, overseeing operations, finances, programs, staff, volunteers, events, and fundraising. Coming up tomorrow is the Mt. Vernon M-Club All In Posey Poker Run. You can still pre-register for 15 dollars per-person through the end of the day today. Walk-up registration will be 20 dollars per-rider tomorrow at 10:00 AM and the ride starts at 11:00 AM. The ride will begin at U&S Farms, which is located at 403 Crab Orchard Road in Mt. Vernon. The ride features lots of beautiful scenery along the DNR nature preserves and Wabash River of Posey County. If you want to follow along via GPS, you can download the free app called Ramblr. They will upload the 54-mile route on Saturday morning.

 

The case against Lamasco Bar owner, Amy Word, is being moved out of Vanderburgh County. The move was decided during her hearing in court on Thursday. Word is accused of maintaining a common nuisance involving controlled substances. She was arrested last year in connection with a series of drug arrests in the area of her bar on West Franklin Street. Word’s trial has been set for March 4th of next year. Officials say where the trial will be is still undetermined.

 

An organization that offers services to homeless individuals in the city of Evansville is in need of the public's help. Officials with the Evansville Rescue Mission say the organization is in urgent need of bottled water donations. With hot temperatures outside, ERM says it's running extremely low on bottled water for the community. A post from the organization says ERM goes through three to four cases of bottled water per day. Anyone who's able to donate to the ERM's cause is asked to drop off bottled waters at 500 E. Walnut St.

  • The Southern Indiana Chapter of the National Football Foundation has selected ten high school senior football players as 2023 Scholar-Athletes. Mt. Vernon’s Colton Lippe was one of the ten selected. He was selected based on excellence on the football field, in the classroom, leadership, and involvement in the community. Lippe will be honored at the 2023 awards program and benefit auction tomorrow at the Gibson County Fairgrounds.   • The St. Louis Cardinals (44-53) won their 6th-straight game last night in Chicago against the Cubs (45-51), 7-2. The two teams continue their series today at 1:20 PM. Catch the game on 106.7 FM WMVI.

 

  • The Cincinnati Reds (52-46) took care of the San Francisco Giants at home, 5-1. The Reds and Giants split the 4-game series.

 

  • The Chicago White Sox (41-57) were able to salvage a game in New York against the Mets, 6-2.
