Authorities have issued a "Shelter in Place" order in Mt. Vernon after a chlorine leak at the water department. Just before 2:00 PM this afternoon, Posey County Emergency Management released the following information:

"There has been a chlorine leak at the Mount Vernon Water Department. A shelter in place order has been issued effective immediately from Vine Street to Kimball south of 4th street to Water Street. Please stay indoors and close all doors and windows until further notice. We will update you as soon as we have more information."

 

North Posey Girls Basketball closed their regular season schedule with a win last night at Forest Park, 44-37. Alyssa Heath scored 14 points and is now only 7 points away from 1,000 career points. The Lady Vikings will head into Sectional play with a 16-6 record. Their first Sectional game will be on Wednesday when they battle Mater Dei at the Forest Park Sectional.

 

Coming up this evening…Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball is home as they welcome Tell City. The JV game begins at 6:00 PM and the Varsity game will get underway around 7:30 PM. The Wildcats are 8-8 on the year. Catch tonight’s Varsity game on the radio on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.

North Posey Boys Basketball does not play tonight, but they are back in action tomorrow evening as they will play host to Princeton. The JV game on Saturday night is scheduled for 5:30 PM and the Varsity game will tip around 7:00 PM. The Vikings are 8-7 overall. Tomorrow evening’s varsity game will be on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.

 

In college basketball tonight…IU Men’s Basketball is on the road to take on their rival in 12th ranked Purdue at 7:00 PM. The Hoosiers try to avoid a 3rd-straight loss as they are 14-7 on the year and 5-5 in the Big 10. The Boilermakers are 16-5 on the season and 8-2 in the Big 10.

 

NewLife Rescue and Adoption has announced that they are having a Benefit Auction and Dinner on Saturday, February 8th at the Posey County Community Center. There will be food, beverages, raffles, and auction items. All the money raised will go to support the animals. Harmonie State Park posted on Facebook that on Saturday, February 8th they are having their second annual Chili Cook-Off and their 5th annual Falconry event. You can come around lunchtime to taste and vote and then stick around for a great birds of prey program that is all about the art of falconry. This event will happen rain or shine. It will take place around the Nature Center and Pavillion.
