Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball earned a hard-fought victory last night against Farfield, 64-62 in overtime. This was a part of the Carmi White County Tournament. The Wildcats improve to 6-7 on the season. They play again tonight over in Camri against Day School at 5:30 PM. North Posey Boys Basketball lost at South Spencer on Thursday night, 37-33. The Vikings drop to .500 overall at 7-7. They are off until Wednesday when they play host to Mt. Vernon.
North Posey Girls Basketball continues to play well as they sail past Tecumseh at home, 76-46. The win improves their record to 13-6 on the year. The Lady Vikings have just three games left in the regular season. They are back in action tomorrow afternoon at home when they play Tell City.
USI Women’s Basketball squeezed past SIU Edwardsville last night on the road, 69-65. USI trailed after the first quarter, 19-4…but were able to battle back and pick up a four-point win. Sophia Loden led USI with 18 points. The Screaming Eagles now sit at 15-5 and 7-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
USI Men’s Basketball lost a tight contest at SIU Edwardsville on Thursday evening, 82-76. Damoni Harrison scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the loss. The Screaming Eagles fall to 8-11 on the season and 3-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Both USI Women’s and Men’s Basketball play at Eastern Illinois tomorrow afternoon.
From the NBA yesterday…the Indiana Pacers got hammered by the San Antonio Spurs, 140-110. The game was played in Paris. Indiana got outscored 45-23 in the third quarter. Bennedict Mathurin scored 24 points for the Pacers as they now have a 24-20 record. The two teams will play again tomorrow at 11:00 AM in Paris.
Coming up tonight in college sports…11th ranked Purdue Men’s Basketball welcomes 21st ranked Michigan at 7:00 PM. The Boilermakers are trying to avoid back-to-back losses as they are 15-5 on the year and 7-2 in the Big 10. Michigan is 14-4 and 6-1 in the conference.
