We are less than one week away from the Posey County Job Fair. It will take place next Thursday January 25th at the Posey County Community Center. It will be open for high school students from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM and the general public from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. We have been told that the Job Fair is maxed out with 32 employers planning to be on site.
Tomorrow, the Posey County EMS will be hosting a Car Seat Safety Check and Lead Testing event at the New Harmony Fire Department at 400 Fairgrounds Road. This event will take place in a pull-through bay at the fire department. They will be checking car seats for safety issues and proper installation at no cost. Also lead testing will be offered for kids to check for potential lead exposure. The lead testing is recommended by medical professionals at their 1- and 2-year checkups, but also is performed for kids up to 6 years of age in the case of missing tests at a younger age. Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball won their third-straight game last night as they defeated Fairfield 73-54 over in the Carmi White County Tournament. Jackson Clowers paced the Wildcats with 20 points, Meyer Robb had 16 points, Nash Hostetter added 15 points, and Nicot Burnett poured in 14 points. Mt. Vernon improves to 7-6 on the season and will play Day School tonight at 5:30 PM over in Cami. Both USI Women’s and Men’s Basketball was home on campus last night taking on Arkansas Little Rock. In the first game of the night, USI Women’s Basketball won 58-48 for their seventh-straight win. Madi Webb had a double-double for USI with 22 points and 11 rebounds. The Screaming Eagles improve to 11-5 and 6-0 in the OVC.
USI Men’s Basketball lost their third-straight game, falling to Arkansas Little Rock 77-75. Jeremiah Hernandez led USI with 28 points. The Screaming Eagles fall to 5-14 on the year and 2-4 in the OVC. Both the USI Women’s and Men’s teams are back in action at home tomorrow afternoon against Morehead State.
The Indiana Pacers were able to hang on for a 126-121 win in Sacramento against the Kings last night. Bennedict Mathurin led the Pacers with 25 points and TJ McConnell had 20 points and 10 assists. The Pacers move to 24-17 on the season and are currently 2-2 on their 6-game road trip, which will continue this evening in Portland against the Trailblazers at 9:00 PM.
Coming up tonight in local high school sports, North Posey Boys Basketball welcomes South Spencer for a 7:00 PM tipoff. The Vikings are going for a 4th-straight win. They are 10-2 on the season. In Men’s College Basketball, the Indiana Hoosiers have a tough road showdown with the 11th ranked Wisconsin Badgers at 7:30 PM. IU is 12-6 overall and 4-3 in the Big Ten.
