Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball is home tonight as they welcome Tecumseh. The JV game will start at 6:00 PM and the Varsity game will follow around 7:30 PM. The Wildcats have 4 games left in their season, and they sit at 9-11 on the year. Catch tonight’s varsity game on the radio on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.

North Posey Boys Basketball is also at home this evening as they take on Day School. Tonight is the Vikings final home game. They have 3 games left overall. North Posey has a record of 10-9. The JV game gets underway at 5:30 PM and the Varsity game will be at 7:00 PM. You can listen to tonight’s varsity game on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.

 

The IHSAA Individual Wrestling State Finals take place this weekend up in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and North Posey High School’s Tyson Barrow will be wrestling. Tyson is wrestling in the 175-pound weight class. He advanced to the State Finals after winning his first two matches in the Semi-State last weekend at Ford Center in Evansville. Tyson ended up finishing in 4th place in the Semi-State.

 

In local college sports last night…USI Women’s Basketball picked up a home win over Eastern Illinois, 66-46. Vanessa Shafford led USI with 18 points, Meredith Raley added 11 points, and Madi Webb chimed in with 10 points. The Screaming Eagles improve to 19-9 on the year and 11-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

USI Men’s Basketball lost their 7th-straight game at home Thursday night against Eastern Illinois, 63-54. Damoni Harrison scored 20 points in the loss. The Screaming Eagles fall to 9-18 on the season and 4-13 in the Ohio Valley Conference. With last night’s loss, USI Men’s Basketball can no longer make the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament this year.  

Both USI Women’s and Men’s Basketball have 3 games left in the regular season and will play their final home game of the year tomorrow night against SIU Edwardsville.

 

From the NBA on Thursday…the Indiana Pacers resumed play after the All-Star Break with a 127-113 win at home over the Memphis Grizzlies. Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 22 points and Myles Turner had 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Pacers improve to 31-23 and will play again on Sunday at home against the Los Angeles Clippers.
