Posey County Council on Aging is in search of a driver. They are looking to add a hardworking and compassionate person to their team of drive staff. They take great pride in the service they provide to their clients. This position is part-time with no nights, weekends, holidays, and can be flexible with your schedule. For more information you can stop by the Posey County Council of Aging office at 611 West 8th Street in Mt. Vernon or give them a call 812-838-4646. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
The Mount Vernon Police Department is hiring more officers. They are accepting applications until October 7th. Applications can be picked up at the Mount Vernon Police Department. Starting pay is 45,052 dollars, with 2,000 dollars increase upon completion of one year probation period, plus annual city increases. The position does include paid holidays as well as health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Applicants must be between the ages of 21-39 at time of application. You also must have a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, pass drug screens post-job offer, and have no felony convictions.
We are already on the back end of the High School Football regular season as Week 7 games are this Friday across the tri-state. Yesterday, the AP polls were updated, and several tri-state teams are ranked. Starting in Class 5A, Castle is 11th. Class 4A Reitz is 8th and Memorial is 11th. Class 3A features Gibson Southern 2nd, Southridge 11th, and Vincennes 16th. Moving on to Class 2A where Mater Dei is 4th and North Posey is 16th. Finishing up with Class 1A, Tecumseh is 7th.
This Friday, North Posey Football travels to Forest Park for their game and Mt. Vernon is at Gibson Southern.
Local Sports Tonight:
- Mt. Vernon Boys Tennis hosts Sectionals and will play Central at 4:30 PM.
- Mt. Vernon Girls Soccer is home against Central at 5:30 PM.
- North Posey Volleyball journeys to Boonville with the JV match at 5:30 PM and the Varsity match will follow around 7:00 PM.
- North Posey Girls Soccer has a long road trip to play White River Valley at 5:30 PM.
- USI Men's Soccer welomes the University of Missouri-Kansas City to campus at 7:00 PM.
