The West Side Fall Festival has a new king and queen. Aiden Hauke and Emily Nurrenbern from Saint Philip Catholic school were crowned the winners. The queen candidates and their escorts are 8th grade students selected by their peers through a voting process. The contestants were judged for poise, personality, appearance amongst other things.
If you are headed over to the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival, be sure to check out a few of the Posey County organizations that have booths set up. Right to Life of Posey County is Booth 74. They are located on the north side of Franklin Street near the corner of St. Joe Avenue.
St. Phillips Church is Booth 92, and they are located on the south side of Franklin Street, close to the corner of 12th Avenue near the main stage.
Also, make sure you check out the St. Wendell Church Booth 88. It is located on the south side of Franklin Street between St. Joe and 12th Avenue.
There are just two weeks left in the High School Football regular season, as Week 8 is coming up this Friday night. Yesterday, the newest AP Polls were released. In Class 5A, both North and Castle are ranked 12th. Class 4A has Reitz at 7th, both Memorial and Jasper are ranked 14th. Moving on to Class 3A where Gibson Southern is 2nd, Southridge 11th, and Vincennes is 16th. Class 2A features Mater Dei 2nd, Perry Central 14th, and North Posey 17th. Finally in Class 1A, Tecumseh is 6th.
This Friday night is the battle of Posey County as the 4-3 Mt. Vernon Wildcats play at the 5-2 North Posey Vikings. North Posey has announced a tailgate before the game at 5:00 PM and Vikings fans are encouraged to bring a soup, side, or dessert to share.
Evansville residents are being invited to attend several upcoming events allowing them to speak with officials about their utility accounts. Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says he's hosting six "Access to Service Fair" events throughout the upcoming winter season, allowing residents to talk one-on-one with customer service representatives about their CenterPoint Energy and Evansville Water and Sewer Utility accounts. The city says that representatives from local assistance agencies and township trustee offices will also be present. Events will be held in the CK Newsome Center. The first one is scheduled for Thursday, November 10th from 5:00-7:00 PM. The city says that the Metropolitan Evansville Transit System will also offer free bus rides for all passengers on event days.
Local Sports Tonight:
- Mt. Vernon Boys Soccer takes on Bosse in the 2nd Round of Sectionals at 7:00 PM. The match will be played at Heritage Hills High School.
- North Posey Boys Tennis #1 Singles player Max Renshaw continues play in the Individual Tournament out at North High School. His match is at 4:30 PM.
- North Posey Volleyball hits the road to play Jasper. JV match at 5:30 PM and the Varisty match will follow around 7:00 PM.
- North Posey Girls Soccer battles Forest Park in the 1st Round of Sectionals at 7:00. The match is at Forest Park High School.
- University of Evansville Men's Soccer travels to Belmont for a 6:30 PM match. The Purple Aces are 4-2-2 on the season.
