Coming up this weekend, it’s the Saint Wendel Social on Saturday and Sunday. The Social takes place at 10542 West Boonville New Harmony Road from 5:00-9:00 PM Saturday and 11:00 AM-8:00 PM Sunday. There will be all kinds of children’s games, many youth activities, food booths, theme baskets, face painting, kiddie tractor pull (ages 3-10), bingo, and special auction items. Saturday evening from 5:00-7:30 PM there will be a pork chop dinner and on Sunday from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM there will be a country chicken dinner. Also, a part of the event is the Saint Wendel Social Raffle that features $10,000 in cash prizes. The raffle will feature (1) 5,000-dollar winner, (4) 1,000-dollar winners, and (2) 500-dollar winners. You can buy a raffle ticket for $10, (3) for $25, or (13) for $100.

This weekend is the Mt. Vernon River Days. It takes place this Friday and Saturday. River Days includes vendors, concessions, and numerous events on both days. There will be the Smoke on the Ohio event. Teams from Posey County will be going after the defending Posey County champion, Matt Williams of Hawg Boyz BBQ. Be sure to sign up for the fun filled event, which includes a Friday night meal and Saturday morning breakfast pizzas. Also, on Saturday, there will be a Cornhole Tournament along the riverfront. Sign-ups will be at 12:00 PM and the tournament starts at 1:00 PM. Cost per-team is 30 dollars.

Mt. Vernon Football junior running back, Kortez Stewart is up for the Courier and Press Player of the Week award. Stewart rushed for 197 yards, a touchdown, and threw an 18-yard touchdown in the Wildcats 42-7 beat down of Princeton on Friday. Mt. Vernon fans can vote for Kortez at courierpress.com.

Another edition of the Mt. Vernon Football Coaches Show takes place tonight on 106.7 FM WMVI. The show will be broadcasted live from United Fidelity Bank in Mt. Vernon from 5:30-6:00 PM. Join the voices of Mt. Vernon sports, Chris Cooke and Allen Buck as they chat with Coach Messmer.

Local Sports Tonight: 

- Mt. Vernon JV Football is home vs Princeton at 6:00 PM. The game was moved to Mt. Vernon, because of wet field conditions at Princeton. 

- Mt. Vernon Girls Golf takes on Signature School at 4:00 PM. The match takes place at Fendrich Golf Course. 

- Mt. Vernon Volleyball travels to North Posey. JV match is at 6:00 PM and the varsity match will follow around 7:30 PM. 

- North Posey JV Football plays host to Southridge at 5:30 PM.

- North Posey Boys Tennis welcomes South Spencer at 5:00 PM. 

- North Posey Boys Soccer is home vs Boonville at 5:30 PM.

- North Posey Girls Soccer heads to Boonville at 5:30 PM.

- University of Evansville Vollleyball is home on campus taking on Tennessee State at 6:00 PM. 

- Evansville Otters play a one-game playoff at the Schaumburg Boomers at 6:30 PM. If the Otters win, they would then advance to a best-of-3 series against the top-seeded Washington Wild Things on Friday.
