Officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the WillowTree of Posey County Healing Garden yesterday in Brittlebank Park. Ground was broken in Mt. Vernon on the garden in 2021 to commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Officials say the garden is a space for contemplation and relaxation for the community and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The garden features trees, shrubs, and flowers native to southern Indiana. A Peace Pole will also be installed as part of the 2023 Regional Victim Services collaboration. National Crime Victims’ Rights Week will be commemorated from April 23-29^th.

The traveling version of the longtime game show "Wheel of Fortune" is coming to Evansville on October 20^th at 7:30 PM for a stop at Old National Events Plaza, according to a news release issued yesterday. “Wheel of Fortune LIVE” bills itself as a theatrical experience where guests are randomly selected to go on stage and feel like they stepped into the game show itself. The show is for the live audience and will not be aired on television. Organizers noted that legendary hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White are not part of the tour, and that the hosts for this engagement will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the Evansville show go on sale to the public on Friday at 10:00 AM.

Yesterday the new rankings came out for high school baseball and softball in the state. Starting with the high school baseball rankings…in Class 4A, Castle is 9^th and North is 7^th. In Class 3A, Jasper is ranked 3^rd. From Class 2A, Forest Park is ranked number 1. In Class 1A, Barr-Reeve is 5^th and Tecumseh is 4^th. Schools in the area that are receiving votes include Central, Memorial, Southridge, South Knox, and North Daviess.

Moving on to the high school softball rankings where in Class 4A, North is 14^th. Class 3A has Pike Central 6^th and Gibson Southern 3^rd. From Class 2A, North Posey earns the top spot as they are ranked 1^st. Finishing up with Class 1A, as Northeast Dubois is 11^th, Tecumseh 3^rd, and Barr-Reeve is 2^nd.

Sports:

• Mt. Vernon Baseball (2-9) is at home tonight taking on Princeton at 5:30 PM. You can hear that game on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.

• Mt. Vernon Softball (10-5) plays host to Gibson Southern at 5:30 PM.

• North Posey Baseball (9-6) travels to Gibson Southern this evening at 7:00 PM. Catch that game on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.

• Evansville Baseball (23-16) welcomes Lipscomb to town for a 6:00 PM game.

• Evansville Softball (21-25, 7-13) is also home on campus tonight taking on Indiana State at 5:00 PM. The Purple Aces are trying to snap a 6-game losing streak.

• USI Baseball (13-26) plays their mid-week non-conference game against McKendree at home this evening at 6:00 PM.

• The St. Louis Cardinals (9-14) continue their 4-game series in San Francisco against the Giants at 8:45 PM. That game will be on 106.7 FM WMVI.

• The Chicago Cubs (12-9) start a 3-game series at home against the San Diego Padres at 6:40 PM.

• The Cincinnati Reds (8-15) and Texas Rangers continue their series in Cincinnati at 5:40 PM.

• The Chicago White Sox (7-16) are still in Toronto taking on the Blue Jays at 6:07 PM. White Sox are trying to end a 5-game losing streak.
