Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch has announced she is making a run for governor of Indiana. The Evansville native made her announcement this morning. Crouch has a reputation for advocating for initiatives that positively impact Hoosiers’ economy, invest in education, and strengthen communities and families. Crouch has served as a State Representative, County Commissioner, County Auditor, State Auditor, and has been Indiana’s Lieutenant Governor since 2017. Crouch is the first Republican woman in Indiana to ever run for Governor. Republican senator Mike Braun has already filed paperwork to run as well.

 

The Town of Poseyville is presenting a Day of Family fun this Saturday at the Poseyville Community Center. The event will last from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday. Stop by and enjoy games, crafts, cookies, hot chocolate, and hot cider.

 

Attention for parents of North Posey student athletes, the North Posey Booster Club posted on Facebook that they will be kicking off the 29th Expressway Truck Raffle tonight with ticket distribution. This event will be held in the High School Foyer right outside the Main Office from 6:00-7:30 PM tonight. Team captains will be present to distribute your student athlete’s tickets. Many captains will be using team communication apps for further alternative instructions.

 

MSD of North Posey County has scheduled Preschool Screening Clinics which will be offered to children ages 3, 4 and 5 at no cost to parents to assess developmental and speech/language skills. The last fall clinic will be held tomorrow. Screenings are by appointment only. The number to call is (812) 874-2243.

 

United Way of Posey County continues to sell half pot tickets for a drawing coming up on December 31st, 2022. It is 5 dollars per ticket, and you do not have to be present to win. Right now, they have sold just over 1,500 dollars of tickets.  

 

Coming up this evening at United Fidelity Bank in Mt. Vernon, it’s another edition of the Mt. Vernon Basketball Coaches Show from 6:00 until 6:30 PM on 106.7 FM WMVI. One of the radio voices for the Wildcats, Allen Buck will chat with Mt. Vernon Head Coach Joe Newcomb. The Wildcats lost at home on Saturday against Central, 72-62 to fall to 1-3 on the year. Mt. Vernon is home against Gibson Southern this Saturday night.

 

The Evansville Basketball Academy will soon be closing its doors at its current location. EBA officials made the announcement on their Facebook page on Sunday. The location on Kotter Avenue in Evansville has served as the host for several basketball games, training sessions, small group classes and tournaments for 24 years. It’s set to close for the last time on Jan. 15, 2023.

 

Downtown Evansville is hosting a holiday event Friday to showcase its holiday spirit with a traveling event. Starting on Riverside Drive and Main Street, the public is invited to an event to walk or drive down the street to see Christmas lights and decorations called the “Santa Stroll,” presented by Riverside Capital Management Group. The event is free to the public and will be full of many fun decorations along the stroll. As people stroll along Main Street, they will receive a free Christmas ornament, holiday crafts, hot cocoa, and special Downtown Evansville stickers. This event starts December 16th and will run from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

 

Sports Tonight:

- North Posey Girls Basketball travels to Reitz. The JV starts at 5:30 PM and the Varsity game will follow at 7:00 PM. The Lady Vikings are 5-3 on the year. 

- The Indiana Pacers (14-13) welcome the Miami Heat to Indy for a 6:00 PM tipoff.
