Coming up this Saturday, Newlife Rescue and Adoption is having their Benefit Auction, Dinner, and Party at the Posey County Community Center. Doors open at 5:00 PM and you must be 21 year or older. There will be a dinner catered by Hawg N Sauce. It is also mentioned that Beer and Wine will be included. To purchase tickets, you can visit their website at www.newliferescues.com...or get tickets in person at 6500 Leonard Road.

 

Next weekend at the Posey County 4H Center, it’s the Posey County Country Music Throwdown. The event is next Saturday, February 11th and is for those 21 years and over. Doors will open at 6:00 PM. Come help make the Posey County Fair even better, as this event is a fundraiser to support Sweethearts of the fair. It will be a night of country music and seeing old friends. Annabel Whitledge kicks off the night at 6:30 PM. Food will be provided by an onsite Food Truck and cash bar provided by St. Phillips Inn. Pre-sale tickets are 15 dollars and 20 dollars on the day of the event, if any are still left. They expect the event to be a sell-out. Once again, this is for the Posey County Music Throwdown next Saturday, February 11th at the Posey County 4H Center.

 

The filing deadline for the May primary in Indiana was today. Those who have filed in Evansville include County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave, the director of talent and development at Kemper CPA group Natalie Rascher, and Caine Helmer. All three of them are running for mayor on the Republican side. County Council member Stephanie Terry and Brian Alexander are also running for Mayor, on the Democrat side.

In the City Council Ward races, Democrat incumbents Ben Trockman, Missy Mosby, Zac Heronemus, Alex Burton, and Jim Brinkmeyer are all running for re-election. As for the Republicans, Angela Lindsey is running for re-election in the 5th Ward.

A new candidate has also filed for City Council in the 2nd Ward. Maytes Rivera is that candidate. For the at-large seats, Republican incumbents Ron Beane and Jonathan Weaver are running again. On the democrat side, newcomers Paul Green, Courtney Johnson, and Mary Allen are running.

 

Berry Global announced yesterday that Tom Salmon will retire as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board at the end of the year. According to a release, Salmon is expected to leave the position on December 31, 2023. Officials say Spencer Stuart, a leading executive search firm, will help with finding a new successor for the business.

 

Deaconess has been rated among the top 5% of hospitals in the nation, according to a new analysis released by Healthgrades. The hospital system ranks among the 100 best hospitals in the U.S. for stroke care for four years in a row, as well as the top 100 best hospitals for pulmonary care for three straight years. This is also the first time that Deaconess has been ranked among the top 100 best hospitals for prostate surgeries.
