Yesterday, the afternoon showers that rolled through the tri-state impacted local high school sports…as all events were postponed. Mt. Vernon Softball was supposed to play Memorial at home but got rained out. The Wildcats Softball team will travel to Princeton tonight at 5:30 PM.

North Posey Softball was scheduled to play at North last night and since they were unable to play due to rain, the two teams will try again tonight at 5:00 PM.

Mt. Vernon Baseball and North Posey Baseball did not have a game scheduled last night but they both return to action this evening against each other at North Posey at 5:00 PM. You will be able to hear the game on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.

 

Yesterday, the updated rankings for High School Baseball were released. North Posey Baseball is ranked 3rd in Class 2A. Forest Park is 2nd. In Class 4A, North is 7th. Class 3A has Jasper 3rd and Princeton 5th. In Class 1A, Barr-Reeve is 2nd and North Daviess is 9th. Teams that received votes include Mater Dei, Evansville Christian, and Northeast Dubois.

 

Details have been announced for summer school at North Elementary and South Terrace. A summer session will run from July 22nd through August 2nd for students entering second and third grades. Each day, the hours will be from 8:30 AM until 11:30 AM. There will be activities in reading, writing, and math. No transportation will be provided. If you are interested in enrolling your student, contact either North Elementary at 812-874-2710…or South Terrace at 812-985-3180.

 

Coming up this Saturday will be the Posey County Fair Associations 80s prom night taking place at the community and events center at the fairgrounds. The event is for those adults 21 and older. Doors will open at 7:00 on Saturday May 4th. Tickets are $20 at the door, or you can get discounted tickets ahead of time for $15 each. If you would like to get your early tickets, you can send your money via Venmo to the Posey County Fair Association. All proceeds will benefit the Posey County Fair Association. The Posey County Fair is scheduled for July 14th through the 20th.

 

Local college sports this evening…the Evansville Purple Aces hit the road for a non-conference game at Southeast Missouri State at 6:00 PM. Evansville is 24-19 on the year.

USI Baseball is also on the road tonight as they are over in Carbondale to battle the Salukis of SIU at 6:00 PM. The Screaming Eagles sit at 19-25 on the season.

 

From Major League Baseball on Monday…the St. Louis Cardinals had game one of their three-game set in Detroit against the Tigers postponed due to weather. The two teams will play a doubleheader today with the first game at 2:40 PM and the second game will start about 40 minutes after the first game finishes. The Cardinals enter play today with a 13-15 record.

The Chicago Cubs were able to avoid a third-straight loss as they took down the Mets in New York, 3-1. Chicago improves to 18-11. The Cubs and Mets play game two of their series tonight at 6:10 PM.

 

From the NBA Playoffs…the Indiana Pacers have a chance to close out their first-round series tonight at Milwaukee in game five against the Bucks at 8:30 PM. The Pacers lead the best-of-seven series, 3-1. Indiana is trying to win their first playoff series since 2014.
